1965 Vespa 125 Nuova (VMA1T) and 1967 Primavera (VMA2T)
In 1965 the Vespa smallframe engine was englarged to 125cc to produce the 125 Nuova. This frame featured the large engine door and 10 inch wheels, as well as an aluminium trim on the front mudguard. It was only available in light blue metallic, and had a 16mm carburettor and 4.8bhp. It's lack of performance (80 km/h top speed) limited sales. The central section of the floor featured a rubber mat, rather than the aluminium and rubber bars. The handlebars were lifted straight from the 125 Super, and featured that model's 100 km/h speedometer
To address this in 1967 the upgraded Primavera was released with a higher compression ratio, 19mm carburettor and 5.6bhp. This gave it a 10 km/h higher top speed and sharper accelleration. Featuring the elongated frame, it was equipped with a bag hook on the saddle, and a toolbox in the left hand 'blister' that could be opened with the same key as the steering lock. The primavera had a 120 km/h speedometer.
The Primavera was very popular and continued largely unchanged for its entire lifespan. In 1974 the 2nd series brought black handlebar grips, and horizontal block lettering to replace the script badges. In 1976 the Primavera received the ET3's black speedometer and large plastic rear light unit.
