The French market P80 (aka 80 Primavera) (V8A1T)

The Vespa P80 (also sometimes called the 80 Primavera) is a model unknown outside France, and barely known within it. It was sold for just one or two years around 1980, to take advantage of the French motorcycle licencing rules which stated that 16 year olds could only ride up to 80cc bikes.

It had a chassis designation of V8A1T and the motor was V8A1M. Mechanically it was a smaller capacity of the ET3 engine, with electronic ignition, and a 4 speed gearbox. It apparently had 6.5 bhp and was limited to 75km/h by its gearing.

The body was a Primavera / ET3 type shell, with the side compartment containing the electronic ignition unit, and ET3-style "electronic" stripes. However instead of the normal headset it had a squared off rectangular headlight unit, with a 120kmh speedometer, like a 50 Special, but with a keyswitch at the top. It appears to be the same one as a 50 Elestart.

The P80 was sold with a rear view mirror and a legshield-mounted spare wheel.
